Bartholemew Roberts, or 'Black Bart' as he was known, was a very successful pirate. He started off as a sailor, but the ship he was on was taken by pirates. He joined them, and was eventually made Captain.

It is said that he captured over 400 ships in less than 4 years! Black Bart really lived in style. He wore the finest silks, and loved to dress in red. He wore crimson waistcoat and breeches, and a hat with a red feather on it. He also liked to wear a cross of gold, that had many tiny diamonds in it. He seemed to love the finer things in life, and preferred tea to rum! However, his crew liked to drink, and were taken by surprise by an anti-piracy ship. Black Bart died in that battle.
